Nelson Escravana has a degree in Computer Science Engineering from IST and Management postgraduation from ISEG, Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal. He has over 20 years of professional experience and is currently the head of the Communications & Cybersecurity Unit at INOV. He actively participates in research, development and integration projects as a technical leader and project manager in the fields of penetration testing, technological developments for intrusion detection, forensic auditing, mobile authentication, as well as a leading security auditor. During the past 15 years, he has participated in more than 15 EU funded research projects and more than 10 National funded research & innovation projects. From 2011 to 2014, he was the responsible for the Cybersecurity activity of SECURED project, he was responsible for integration at ECOSSIAN FP7 SEC project and currently coordinates the technical participation of INOV in H2020 ASGARD, SATIE, COMPACT, GRACE, MEDFOOD, EUNOMIA and SPARTA projects. He has participated in multiple projects and studies for the Portuguese Government, ESA and NATO. In 2011 he was responsible for creation and management of the INESC Group shared service centre which includes CSIRT groups. He is also responsible for the annual participation of INESC group in National cyber defence exercises held by the Portuguese Army and is member of the Board of Directors (statutory body) at INOV. Has a security clearance issued by the national security authority (GNS).
