Dimosthenis Anagnostopoulos is a Professor in the Department of Informatics and Telematics of Harokopio University of Athens in the area of Information Systems and Simulation. He served as Rector of Harokopio University (9/2011 – 1/2016) and was also elected Chair of the Greek Rectors’ Conference (1/2014-6/2014). He is currently the Dean of Faculty of Digital Technology. He is a visiting Professor at Sussex University, UK and an Associate Editor of Requirements Engineering (Springer). His research interests include Information Systems, eGovernment, Semantic Web and Web Services, Modelling and Simulation, Business Process Modelling. He also served as Secretary General of Information Systems of the Greek Ministry of Finance and Economics (2004 – 2009). Eva Kaili is a Member of the European Parliament, elected in 2014. In her capacity as the Chair of the European Parliament’s Science and Technology Options Assessment body (STOA) she has, been working intensively on promoting innovation as a driving force of the establishment of the European Digital Single Market. She has been particularly active in the fields of blockchain technology, m/eHealth, big data, fintech and cybersecurity. Since her election she has also been very active in the field of taxation, where she has been the Rapporteur of the ECON committee’s annual tax report. As a member of the ECON committee she has been focusing on EU’s financial integration and the management of the financial crisis in the Eurozone. Prior to her position in the European Parliament, she has been elected two times in the Greek Parliament (serving between 2007-2012), with the PanHellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). She holds a Bachelor degree in Architecture and Civil Engineering, and Postgraduate degree in European Politics. Currently, she is conducting her PhD in International Political Economy.

Spiros Margaris has more than 25 years of national and international experience in investment management/research.

He was also ranked the No. 2 InsurTech influencer by Onalytica. He regularly appears in the top three positions of established global industry influencer rankings. Mr. Polemitis currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the University of Nicosia (UNIC) and EDEX, as a Board member of EDEX and UNICAF, and as a member of the Council of the University of Nicosia. UNIC serves nearly 12,000 students, along with 6,000 additional students in its affiliated academic institutions. It is the largest university in Cyprus and is the largest English language university in southern Europe.
Mr. Polemitis has two decades of experience in private equity, higher education and software development in New York, as a principal or partner at Ledra Capital, ACG Capital and Oliver Wyman (formerly Mercer Management Consulting). He has been a principal or advisor for a broad range of corporate financings in the United States, Europe, Latin America and India, ranging from multi-billion dollar industrial buyouts to early stage venture capital
Mr. Polemitis helped found the world-leading Digital Currency / Blockchain Initiative at the University of Nicosia, co-taught the first university cryptocurrency course in the world, and is regularly quoted in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Wired and other publications as an expert on cryptocurrency issues. His research at Mercer on optimal financing strategy in private equity has been published in Buyouts and cited in the Financial Times Mr. Polemitis holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he graduated with highest distinction as a Baker Scholar, and a B.S. in International Studies, Accounting and Computer Information Systems from Indiana University, where he graduated with highest distinction as a Wells and Chancellor’s Scholar.
Dr. Peter Rizun is a physicist and entrepreneur living in Vancouver, Canada. He is the Chief Scientist for Bitcoin Unlimited, focusing on the development of analytical theory that explains properties and emergent phenomenon of the Bitcoin Network. Peter is also the co-founder and co-managing editor of Ledger, the world’s first peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to cryptocurrency research, published by the University of Pittsburgh. He was the recipient of the $105,000 Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) CGS Doctoral Award and was recognized as a “Leader of Tomorrow” by the Alberta Science and Technology Foundation (ASTech). Roger Ver has been a long time proponent of voluntaryism, the idea that all human interactions should be by mutual consent, or not at all. He is most well know for his work promoting Bitcoin. In 2011, his company, Memorydealers.com, became the first mainstream company to start accepting bitcoin as payment. He then went on to create Bitcoinstore.com, the first website in the world to accept bitcoin as payment for hundreds of thousands of items, and was the impetus for the future wave of merchant adoption. He also became the first person in the entire world to start investing in Bitcoin startups. Nearly singlehandedly, he funded the seed rounds for the entire first generation of Bitcoin businesses.

Denis Avrilionis is a serial entrepreneur active in the software industry since 2001. As the founder of Compellio, he assists private companies and public organisations in utilising blockchain to streamline compliance and maximise efficiency. Previously, Jeff was a senior official at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission from 2014-2017. As FinTech Advisor to Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo, he was Founding Director and architect of LabCFTC, the CFTC’s hub for engagement with FinTech innovation (the first launched by a U.S. market regulator). He established and chaired the CFTC blockchain, virtual currencies and FinTech working group from inception in 2015. Jeff led FinTech and RegTech coordination with domestic and international regulators, and led an international regulator workstream on post-trade digital innovation. Jeff previously led the CFTC’s Division of Clearing and Risk, which oversees many of the world’s largest clearinghouses. He led the negotiations resulting in “Clearinghouse Equivalence” with the European Commission. He joined the CFTC as Special Counsel to Chairman Timothy Massad, and also led the CFTC’s Office of International Affairs.
Jeff worked for many years in the financial industry in New York and London. As Head of Partnerships & Alliances of LCH’s SwapClear, he helped design and launch the SwapClear “FCM service” for clearing interest rate swaps through US intermediaries. He also devised the innovative CCP Squared partnership program and led the award-winning SMART margin simulator. Jeff earlier worked on a variety of new market structure and FinTech initiatives, including LiquidityHub and the Project Rainbow consortium. Before that he rebuilt Cantor Fitzgerald’s market data business after the events of September 11. Mr. Bandman started his career as an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York, and was Americas General Counsel for Prebon Yamane, now part of the ICAP group.
He graduated from Yale magna cum laude, with honors in History and English, and from Stanford Law School, with honors as a member of the “Order of the Coif”. He is a five-time Jeopardy! Champion and spent his winnings backpacking around Africa, Asia and Europe.
Andrea Bracciali is a SICSA Lecturer at Stirling University, UK, and received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Pisa, Italy. His research interests regard the application of formal methods to the modelling and verification of interactive systems, ranging from semantics of concurrent and distributed systems, to security protocols, formal modelling in Systems Biology and Life Sciences, and more recently decentralised computation, cryptocurrencies, blockchains and smart contracts. He has developed his research in collaboration with various colleagues from different institutions and nations, publishing more than 60 papers. He has participated in several national and EU projects, chairs international workshops on blockchain technologies, is program director of a MSc in Fintech, and is currently leading a WG of the COST ACTION cHiPSet.

Yannis Charalabidis is Associate Professor at the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, University of the Aegean, in Samos, Greece. He is heading the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit of the University, designing and managing youth entrepreneurship activities, and is the founding director of the Digital Governance Research Centre, coordinating policy making, research and application projects for governments and enterprises worldwide.
He has more than 25 years of experience in designing, implementing, managing and applying complex information systems, 10 of which in SingularLogic Software Group, leading software development and company expansion in Greece and Europe.
He has published more than 10 books and 200 papers in international journals and conferences, and actively participates in international standardisation committees and scientific bodies. During the last years, Yannis has been teaching as an invited professor at UC Berkeley, TU Delft, Stevens Institute, State University New York, University of Washington, City University Hong Kong, Swinburne University and Wollongong University Australia.

At PumaPay, Aristos spearheads the development of the PullPayment Protocol, an innovative cryptocurrency billing solution.

Nicolas T. Courtois
Nicolas Courtois is a Senior Lecturer at University College London, where he teaches about applied cryptography GA12 and cryptanalysis GA18.
His research focuses on the security analysis of cryptographic systems with particular focus on realistic attack scenarios and systems used by millions of users every day. His Google Scholar profile lists more than 100 papers with 7,400 citations in cryptography.
His H-index is 37. A university team lead by Nicolas Courtois was given the UK University Cipher Champion in March 2013.
He is a founding member of the group Code-Breakers at LinkedIn and a member of the editorial board of Cryptologia.
Previously, he was a crypto research engineer at Gemalto, the world’s largest manufacturer of smart cards and secure hardware.

Federico Costantini is a Legal Informatics Expert.
He is researcher and Adjunct Professor of Legal Informatics at the Department of Legal Sciences, University of Udine (IT).
Always passionate about technology, he is involved in the world of start-ups and innovative enterprises. His studies are focused on the problem of “social control” in “Information Society”, aimed at challenging the unified perspective which bridges together philosophy, computer science and law, consequently appointing law as a kind of human technology.
He graduated (Master’s degree) in Law in 2000, received his Ph.D. in Philosophy of Law at the University of Padua (IT) in 2004 and became lawyer in 2007.

Recently he has been investigating legal issues concerning the «peer to peer economy», the deployment of folksonomies in legal information management, the collection of electronic evidence and the deployment of artificial intelligence in vehicles.

Angeliki Dedopoulou is EU Affairs adviser to DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission for the European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations (ESCO) project. Her main focus is the ESCO project and its use in related initiatives, such as the EU Skills Profile for Third Country Nationals, EUROPASS and the Blueprint for sectoral cooperation on skills. Professor Constantinos N. Phellas is the Vice Rector for Faculty and Research at the University of Nicosia. In 1998, Prof. Phellas obtained his PhD in Medical Sociology from the University of Essex, UK. He has 20+ years of experience in international research projects, having participated in more than 32 national, European, and international programs, in 16 of which he has been involved as a technical/scientific coordinator or principal researcher. He has more than 100 publications in chapters of books, international journals and conferences, and has 2 contributions in national legislation. He is a member of the editorial committee of more than 50 international journals and conferences, has acted as editor in the publication of special issues of international journals, conference proceedings volumes, and coedited three books. He is a senior member of IEEE, Associate Editor of IEEE IT Professional Magazine, and a counselor of the IEEE student branch at the University of West Attica.
